Movie Classics to Watch During the Holidays

I just love curling up in front of the TV with a cosy blanket and hot cup of tea at this time of year. Here are some of my recommendations for movie classics to watch during the holidays!

Drama

Notting Hill is a feel good, romantic comedy about a bookstore owner whose life changes when he meets an international film star. Well worth a watch if you haven’t seen it already, even if you’re not the biggest rom-com fan!

Adventure/Sci-Fi

Back to the Future is an unusual movie but it works amazingly! Michael J Fox plays a normal, bumbling teenager who goes into the past, in a time machine invented by Dr. Emmet Brown (a.k.a. ‘The Doc’). It’s a fun and witty movie. I first saw this when I was a child and I don’t think I could ever get sick of it! There are two sequels so it’s perfect for a movie marathon.

Action

If you’re  looking for a bit of action and something different from the traditional holiday favourites, then look no further than Die Hard. Bruce Willis does an amazing job of playing a normal N.Y. cop, who is forced to save his wife from a hostage situation in the Nakatomi building. Bruce Willis’s character John McClane is sarcastically funny throughout the whole movie. You’ll be laughing out loud whilst getting your action fix.

Comedy

Home Alone is a heartwarming classic that has established itself as a Christmas tradition. Mukaulay Culkin does an awesome job of playing the kid who protects his home from a pair of pesky burglars, after being accidentally left home alone by his family. I think this list just wouldn’t be complete without it!

 Family

hook-long-center

Hook is a childhood favourite of mine. Captain Hook kidnaps Peter Pan’s children. In order to take on his enemy returns to Neverland to reclaim his youth. This movie will remind you of the inner child in you!
